I thought I would add a little life to the article on my Berber mother. YouTube has some wonderful clips and I'll post some of them here.
Here's one called berber folklor submitted by A320insid. Three women sing as they make some food. Their outfits and jewelry are wonderful and check out the henna! I have no idea what they are singing about and if someone could leave a comment with a short translation, I'm sure we would all appreciate it.
Here's a Berber man weaving a shawl in Fez:

The text on this one says:

The clip shows modern Amazigh in their various tasks. The story is sung in a happy tone which if I had not read the above text would have made me think they were singing about love or something upbeat...

Ah, the joys of technology! We can hear other languages, see different people and grow in our understanding of our little world just by clicking some keys... Great fun and of course, there are always those great textiles to look at in their appropriate context.
